Gee, just had a birthday, so that means that I have to update my “About” page again. I think this time I’ll leave my age out of it in order to not have it go out of date as frequently. However I will leave those who read this later a clue – I became 56 years of age in 2012. Do the math yourself from here on out.
Dang, I mentioned how many years I have been happily married too. OK, math time again – I have been happily married since 1980. And look to continue to be so. Unless you see a change again in my “About” page assume that I still am happily married.
I suppose if I want to maintain my happy marriage I should mention that my two daughters have now grown by one bouncing baby boy, courtesy of my older daughter. I now have a big bouncing baby grandboy whom I bounce four times a week while my older daughter goes vacationing at work.
Decided to keep the above in from my last “About”. Also keeping most of the below paragraph from my last “About”.
I used to be employed in middle management in a production facility. See my blog The Times Have Changed – A Belated Thanks for some details on why and how that has changed and to whom I am most forever grateful to.
OK, the below paragraph is new. In fact so is the following very short paragraph. Now that I look at it so is the third paragraph following this paragraph. The last paragraph though is a holdover from my previous “About” as is the saying about the Reformed Church of Vulcan at the end..
I was going to get a degree in Radiology, but have since changed directions. My wonderful wife has finally convinced me that I do not need to worry about our finances so much. Her job provides enough income for our daily needs and our retirement is in good shape; which means that I can choose a new career based solely on my desires and wishes and not have to worry about such crassness as money.
That is just one of the many reasons why I am sure that whenever anyone reads these words that I will still be happily married.
Anyway, I will be starting to work on my Masters of Liberal Arts from TCU this fall. My goal is to eventually wind up being an adjunct professor at a community college. I also plan to work on my writing and blogging.
I have a BA degree in Psychology with one semester of graduate work. Spent four years in the Air Force before deciding that I was not meant for the military. I have been told that I am…… well many things which I will leave unsaid right now. No need to embaresses myself. And yes, I am aware that could have two differing interpretations. However life is often like that so just live with it for now.
Well, that was easy enough. Until I’m told I need to update again – Live long, have fun, and prosper – Reformed Church of Vulcan.
.
You know what? No, of course you don’t because you don’t know me. Anyway, I found your blog via the Saved1byGrace blog. Funny, because I’m just now coming out of an 18 years obsession with opiates and the message I found at my first AA/NA meeting was absolutely not for me. I refuse to believe that I, being an all-powerfull human, am powerless under anything; especially addiction. I instead found the message of personal accountability and self empowerment at St. Jude to be more to my liking. I think I gather from your blog that you are mainly conservative, but probably believe as I do that they (‘pubs) do more harm to their message with all the Holy mumbo-jumbo than good. I really don’t know where I’m going with this post except to say that I love good wwriting, and I would like to read more of your writing. So in short, I am ‘scribed.
Thank you for subscribing to my site and for thinking my writing good. I like it when people agree with me :/).
I am sorry that you are having such a difficult time with opiates and some of the organizations that tried to help. I am glad though that you are coming out of it and have found St. Jude to be useful in that regards and hope you continue to improve and do well.
By the way, I am a liberal and not a conservative. I think as you read more of my blogs that will become more apparant. Hopefully this will not cause you to drop me.
Absolutely not. Variety is the spice of life. I went through my stanch conservative days, and this is what I came out of it with: Rush is a fraud, Hannity’s a hack, but Neil Boortz I love. I have a friend that is an author and is a die hard democrat. He has really helped me greatly with advice on my blog so I try to return the favor. So far I haven’t succeeded, but I try to tell him that the best way to get his views across is to make it a point to find things in the republican party he can identify with. That way, he can still be die hard, but he will have people’s attn because he doesn’t appear to be a zealot. because very few people identify with “hard core” on either side. That’s my opinion anyway. So no, you won’t be losing me because you are a democrat. Quite honestly, anyone that would be that closed minded, isn’t getting but 1/2 out of life that they should be getting.
Btw, one last thing. I say Rush is a fraud because of the lies I believe he has told regarding his addiction. If he were truly clean he would realize the lives he could touch with his story. And no way, again “if he were clean”, would he not want to share that story. Even if he still is on meds, which I believe he is, I think he could help people by warning what a deadly thing pain killers are. This is all just my opinion of course.
Glad to hear that I won’t be losing you. And also glad that your opinion about Rush and so on is similar to mine. I continue to listen to them though in order to 1) challenge my own ideas (although other conservative voices do a much more intelligent job of that than talk radio), 2) keep up with what the radical conservatives are saying and 3) in order to find material for my blog.
